A Big Idea

The Makerspace for Education site was born from a big idea! What if we could have a site dedicated to innovative hands on learning? A site made for teachers, by teachers! Here is where the idea was born!

This website is more than the creation of a project, by these three authors, for the University of British Columbia MET program. This was a needed learning space made by educators for educators. Makerspace for Education is a reflection of the needs of educators in our community. This website has been reviewed, vetted and supported by veteran teachers and educators just beginning their careers; those familiar with makerspaces and those who are new to it. Feedback provided by the target audience and stakeholders has been greatly appreciated and incorporated, truly formative assessment in action. We are very excited that this is a true community of educational practice that is highly anticipated and eagerly awaited. Professionally, there is no greater satisfaction than hatching, nurturing, and completing such an important and needed resource that will continue to develop and grow well past this course's requirements.
